Hanoi Temple of Literature is so famous that a lot of school in Hanoi use the Khue Van pavilion in the graduated picture for the pupil. They hope that the pupil will be trying to study with the best effort to get the best result.
The Temple of Literature is one of the best see-sighting destinations in Hanoi. It’s considered as the first University in Vietnam which was built in 1070 and the worship place of Confucius, scholars, Viet’s Kings. The architecture is preserved as the traditional style, especially the Khue Van pavilion.
This green site is out of the crowded streets around. Inside the formal gate is the 5 courtyards with the symmetric entrance and ancient architecture. The main courtyard is the garden of Stelaes which the first stone stele was made since the 15th century and name the doctors of each past exam. Today, a lot of graduated students visit this place to take some ceremony pictures to celebrate their studying.
Hidden in this historical relic, there are many interesting stories as the image of Khue Van pavilion, the study and examinations in the feudalism, the “Carp turning into the dragon”, the “crane on the back of a turtle” statue… In a half day tour, the travellers can discover more than they know.
