Hanoi Taoist Temple is the most popular Taoist Temple in the north of Vietnam. It was built in the same time with the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long or Hanoi today in the 11th century to honour the Tran Vu God. It’s one of the four sacred Temples in Hanoi.
The first name of Hanoi Taoist Temple is Tran Vu Temple with the name of the God who protected the peace for the local people and the land. Taoist Temple is the formerly names with the religion of the God, the Temple got a lot of characters of a popular pagoda in ancient Hanoi.
One of the simplest names is Quan Thanh Temple which is the street name of the Temple’s location.
There is a National Treasure in Hanoi Taoist Temple which was a black bronze product of nearly Ngu Xa villagers, it’s the Tran Vu statue. With the height of 3.96 meters and around 3,600 kilograms in weight, it was the most excellent statue in Vietnam with perfect preparing, skilful of cast processing.
It’s not only a National Treasure in Hanoi Taoist Temple but also many wonderful decors in this Temple. The pattern wooden patterns with ancient flowers, turtle image, Han parallel sentences… and the bronze productions include of two huge candlesticks, two boards since the 18th century, … it looks like a small art museum.
